Voting Fraud

Voter Fraud Scares Me

There is absolutely no doubt that the 2008 year election has been an interesting one, to say the least. We've seen whack jobs professing their faith in free markets, a disappointing attempt by our first female candidate with any potential, actors stepping it up, war vets nearing death, and even an African American contender.

With each passing election we tend to see more and more foul play. In 2004 we encountered the possibility of fraud in a variety of states. Not to mention the difficulty of not being able to track ballots which opens up a whole new can of worms. We've seen confusion taken place by the use of butterfly ballots and the ineptitude in terms of designing the electronic ballot boxes. The technical aspects of voter fraud do not even begin to edge their way in towards the practices seen by ACORN or the underhandedness of the GOP. Let's not forget the mass media portraying the candidates in particularly different lights.

After witnessing all of the fraud and mystery that goes into an election I really thought it would all be over and solved by the time I sent my ballot through the Scantron. Boy was I wrong! Not only did I see not a single form of identification being checked at my polling station but I actually saw something much more frightening.

After standing in line for over an hour I was starting to grow anxious as I moved closer and closer to the check-in station. I had finally made it inside the tiny gymnasium from outside the school of Math and Science. On this particular day the children were in the middle of taking their week's worth of state exams.

When the time came for me to check in, I walked to the table and glanced at the list of names and addresses that were revealed before me. The ladies were a bit cranky and demanded that I state my address. I said it aloud and meanwhile noticed that I was on the list twice. Once for my current address and one from my address of 6 months ago -- of which I never registered to vote under. Quite an interesting predicament. I told them that I was on there twice and they should nullify my old address but they simply ignored me. For all I know someone voted under my other address for me. Welcome to America's republic.
